Since Srijit Mukherji teased his followers with a post teasing an upcoming collaboration with a global broadcast company for a desi version of the world’s most loved and followed detective, there has been a lot of speculation. Srijit captioned a photo of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman from their hit show Sherlock, “The Game is Afoot!!!”
While his followers were left wondering if he was referring to any Indian detective, Srijit’s post strongly suggested a desi avatar of Holmes. While Srijit has remained tight-lipped about the project, sources say the detective series will be shot in several undisclosed locations in Bengal.
With reports of Rasika Duggal and Ranvir Shorey being cast in critical roles for this series circulating, Mukherji’s adaptation of Sherlock Holmes is expected to surprise viewers, according to sources, including the casting of a particular iconic singer in a pivotal role. Meanwhile, Srijit has been working on several projects, including the highly anticipated Padatik, which stars sensational Bangladeshi actor Chanchal Chowdhury as legendary filmmaker Mrinal Sen.
